Origami rose calyx. A calyx is defined as the sepals of a flower typically forming a whorl that encloses the petals and forms a protective layer around a flower in bud. Tutorial for the rose here. To make a great looking origami rose you will need to also fold a calyx.
Origami rose leaves calyx and stem. If you have a copy of origami for the connoisseur you will probably notice that at least part of the process is similar to kawasaki s spiral snail shell design on pages 140 143. It struck me at one point in the process of making the shell that it would work well as the base of a rose if i went another direction about halfway through the process.
This is the green part that sits just under the pretty blooming piece and adds and extra flair to your flower. It s definitely worth of the effort. Follow me on social media.
They are just simple paper cutting except for the calyx the rose is the main object and the hardest so i choose to go easy on the leaves and stem. Calyx is from 7 5 cm square of kami also pentagonized during vicenza cdo convention i had unique opportunity to learn old rose during secret workshop from naomiki with ilan and viviane i wasn t able to remember all the steps but naomiki made photo instructions so each one of us could try. This is my design for a base for the modified version of kawasaki s rose that i show on this site.
In this video i demonstrate how to make an origami calyx.
